Production Background

OriginalTimmy

Timmy's original design.

  • According to the 77 Secrets of The Fairly OddParents Revealed!, Timmy Turner was inspired by Butch Hartman's childhood. [1]
  • Timmy was originally going to be named "Mikey", after Butch's older brother. But after a fight between the two, he was named after his younger brother instead, Timmy Hartman.
  • Butch Hartman initially intended Timmy's hat to be blue. He ultimately switched it to pink after his blue marker dried out while doing the first concept drawings.
  • In the Oh Yeah! Cartoons shorts, Timmy was voiced by the late Mary Kay Bergman.
    • After the main series debuted, Timmy's voice was redubbed in those shorts by his current voice actress (Tara Strong) for future reruns.
  • Timmy has the same hairstyle as Cosmo, Vicky (other than the ponytail) and Danny Fenton from Danny Phantom. Also Milhouse from The Simpsons.

Trivia

  • Timmy's birthday is March 21, which makes him an Aries (planet Mars) in the horoscope.
  • According to Cosmo, Timmy Turner weighs 50 lbs. without his buck teeth, but 77 Secrets of The Fairly OddParents Revealed! shows that Timmy weighs 60 lbs. with his buck teeth. So, that means Timmy's buck teeth weigh 10 lbs. In the Oh Yeah! Cartoons short "Too Many Timmys!, Timmy says that he's 45 lbs.
  • Timmy is ambidextrous, but he prefers to use his left hand.
  • Canonically, he got his trademark pink hat as a result of his parents expecting a girl. [2]
  • Timmy's grandpa is implied to be responsible for his buck teeth, due to letting him suck on pacifier for too long.[3]
  • Timmy has or had Coulrophobia, a fear of clowns. [4] He may have gotten over it by the time he met Flappy Bob.[5]
  • Timmy has been to therapy. [6] [7] He has been going to therapy possibly since he was five because there is a picture of him (and Gary, from his imagination) in therapy.[8]
    • He sees a therapist over his crush on Trixie Tang. Tootie also sees her own therapist for the same reason: her crush on Timmy.
  • Timmy has been shown to play 4 sports: Football, Baseball (Foul Balled, OddPirates), Soccer (He Poofs, He Scores), and Basketball (Odd Ball).
  • Timmy can play the trumpet (The Fairly OddParents! Theme Song and School's Out!: The Musical), the guitar (Oh, Brother!, School's Out!: The Musical, Wishology!), and the tuba (Scary GodCouple) skillfully.
  • Timmy is apparently able to mimic both Wanda and Cosmo's voices.[9][10]
  • The events of "Channel Chasers" implies that Timmy won't lose Cosmo and Wanda (and possibly Poof and Sparky) until he leaves for college, by the time he's at least 18. Since Timmy would legally be considered an adult, he'd be able to live independently from his parents (since he'd be able to live on his own and out of the house) and obviously wouldn't need Vicky as a babysitter anymore (since he'd legally be able to take care of himself).
    • While the exact age that Timmy loses his fairies isn't revealed, Timmy learns that he'll still have them even by the time he's getting ready for his high school prom (when he's a junior or a senior in high school, when he's around 16 to 18 years old).
  • Timmy Turner has only gotten A's on his tests five times. When he got an A+ in "Cosmo Con," his friends started screaming as they thought the world was coming to an end (he got an A+ due to his short attention span and him doodling).
  • It seems that, throughout the show, Timmy's most common wish has been to make "everything back to normal", considering the dire consequences of many of his previous granted wishes before that.
  • Timmy along with Cosmo, Wanda, Mr. Turner, Mrs. Turner, Chester, AJ, Jorgen, Mark, Chet Ubetcha, Mr. Crocker, and Vicky are the only characters to appear in every season of the show.
    • Timmy is the only character that appears in every episode of the original series.
  • The rapper Desiigner made a song named Tiimmy Turner, where he refers to himself as Timmy Turner.
  • Ms. Doombringer, Mr. Crocker, Remy, Molly, Dwight, Chloe, Vicky, Jimmy, Carl, Sheen, Libby and Cindy are the only characters who knows about Timmy's fairies.

Running Gags

  • Being irresponsible.
  • Saying "What could possibly go wrong!" before a disaster (being a classic Bubsy reference)
  • Whenever people would ask where he got the stuff, he wished for he would tell them "Uh. Internet?"
  • Spazzing out.
  • People constantly mentioning or making fun of his buck teeth during the show.
  • People constantly calling him Tommy.
  • People mistaking him for a beaver because of his buck teeth.
  • Timmy making wishes that usually goes bad.
  • Timmy getting an F from Mr. Crocker.
  • Timmy getting denied opportunities with Trixie Tang,

Continuity Errors

  • In "Abra-Catastrophe!," Timmy is shown when he was young not having fully formed buck teeth, but in every episode to feature Timmy as a baby (not including "The "Good Old Days!"," although it does explain him getting his buck teeth), he has his buck teeth.

Quotes

”Duh maybe?”

[repeated, right before a disaster] "What could possibly go wrong!?"

"Boring conversation. Can't focus."

"MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE!"

[when asked why he loves Cosmo and Wanda] "Why? What do you mean why? They're my best friends. [audience gasps and murmurs] Well, they make me feel safe. They make me feel special. They make me feel loved. They may make a few mistakes, but they're my pals, and I love them more than anything."

[Jimmy & Timmy shake each other's hands between universes]
James Isaac 'Jimmy' Neutron: "Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius."
Timmy Turner: "Timmy Turner... Boy."

"Hi. I'm Timmy. I have a short attention span and..." [walks away]

[to Dad] "No amount of therapy will ever make this moment okay."

[to Tootie] "It'll be our little secret... of LOOOOOOVE!"

"Awesome - boys fighting over me!"

"I don't care what my therapist says. I will always love you, Trixie Tang!"

[using Wanda's voice] "Cosmo you idiot! You dunce? I should've married the monkey?"

"Trixie, there's something I always wanted to say to you... [You Doo magic takes effect] I love Tootie! She's smart, she's funny, and she is so much prettier than anyone, especially that icky yucky Trixie!"

"TALLYHO!"

"Ha! Like I'd wish I were a girl!"

"Wands up!"

"Uh, internet?" (Timmy's excuse for everything)

Chester: "Where did you get this stuff?"

Oh no! What have I done!

Timmy: "Internet. Uhhhm, inheritance. I inherited the internet."

Cosmo: "I am your father... your fairy god father! Haha! Give me five!"
Timmy: (Loses Grip) "Cosmo, you idiot!"

"Anyone can lose. But it takes a true Squirrely Scout to win."

"Okay, Tootie. I'll play one game of ball, just to make you happy. One. That's it, okay? One. Just one."

"No way! Thanksgiving is for real turkey! I am not eating any of that stuff!"

"I do not want to spend another year getting pushed around by a big bully. This year, Timmy Turner is not going to take it!"

"But Mom, [America's Funniest Dental Exams is] educational!"

"I'm tired of a schedule running my life. I always have to wait for later to do what I want to do now."

"What have I done? Instead of creating nonstop fun time, I've erased time altogether! There's no more dinnertime or lunchtime or breakfast time - not even snack time! Everybody will starve! With no bedtime, nobody will be able to sleep! Without down time, I'll never be able to sit and pointlessly stare at nothing for hours on end! And without TV time, I can't watch America's Funniest Dental Exams - despite the fact that it's educational! Cosmo! Wanda! Hel-l-l-l-lp!"

"Note to self: never break up with a girl in the violent gardening tools section."

"I should have gone with the asparagus."

"I wish everything was back to normal!" [Timmy's solution for everything]

"Cosmo, you idi-- sorry, force of habit. Jimmy, you idiot!"

"Having godparents rocks!"

"I know it sounds way too good to be true, but I'm never leaving you guys, I'm never getting a job, and I'm never getting married. I just love you both way too much. Love, love, love, love, love."

"Silent study? Boring! Who'd rather play dodgeball?"

"Crazy? If getting' out of school early on my birthday and having more time to be a kid is crazy, well then people, strap me in a straitjacket!"

Tootie: "You know what I wish for?"
Timmy: "No."
Tootie: "I wish that we could help rebuild the park around the Dimmsdale Dogwood. You know, the way it used to be when we were kids."
Timmy: "Wow. Nice wish. I mean, Cause it's not a wish for yourself. You don't really hear wishes like that every day."

"There's nothing sadder than opening up a new toy that comes without batteries! Aww. They're so cute when they're not trying to kill you."

Magnate: "What happened to my magic?!"
Timmy: "It was never yours to begin with. I-it was never mine either. It's about time we both grew up, don't you think?"

"Cool your jets, Jorgen, okay? I already gave up Cosmo and Wanda, and I'm a full-fledged adult now. Tomorrow, I'm even buying deodorant."

Tootie: "Well, then, I guess we should grant our first wish. Ready, Timmy Turner?"
Timmy: "Ready, Tootie! Actually, there's a couple of guys I owe some wishes to right off the bat. Well, this looks like the beginning of a magical future together."

"I'm bored. I wish it'd rain rabid dingoes."

"Perfect! I'm off to fight crime as Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder!"

"You know, I hardly miss making wishes for myself! I just love giving! Love, love, love!"

"Hey, maybe that tornado will take me to where Cosmo, Wanda and Poof are. Or it will rip my flesh out of my bones and put me out of my misery. So, win-win! (Jumps into tornado) Bonsai!"

"FAIRY GOD PARENTS! If I ever do that again, hit me. (Cosmo poofs up an oar) Not now!"

"FAIRY GOD PARENTS! (Cosmo and Wanda slap Timmy) Thanks for not using the oar."

"This is called watching a movie when you're not supposed to with the window wide open."

"That's not mine! Mom will never believe you (Vicky)!"

"There's an app for that. There's also an app for back hair (show back hair, which disturbs Poof)! There's a small chance I went a little crazy with the phone! Haha, hahahahahahahahahaha, da-do-da-da-de-do-da!"

Timmy: [to Poof] "What's wrong with my pink hat?"
Poof: "Dude..."

Timmy: "This is going great!" (TV turns on to the news)
Chet Ubetcha: "Breaking news! This is NOT going great!"

“Wait, Wanda, I wish I had a clip that shows all the time Cosmo was a great fairy godparent!!”
