Well this has been known at least somewhat for a while now, that a new girl would be joining the FOP cast and would be a third love interest to Timmy Turner (Or fourth/fifth/sixth/seventh? depending on what whackjob you listen to). Her name is Missy and, well... I think the FOP fans are going to have a lot of fun talking about her.
I won't spoil too much in the articles, but this thread is meant to be fair game. If you are really concerned about getting spoiled from Fairly Oddparents of all things (Pro-tip: Timmy will wish everything normal in the end, and the running gag will repeat itself three times, oops I just spoiled every episode :) then read no further.
Okay, here is Missy.
Right now its not known who is voicing her. It's unlikely to be Dionne Quan, and I'll explain why later, but this is all speculating. What is known now is how she appears, how she feels about Timmy, how Timmy feels about her, and what happens between them. So, now is your last chance to avoid spoilers.
Basically, in the episode, Timmy falls in love with Missy. Why, what happened to Trixie Tang, and other details are not explained in the episode summary I read. Missy throughout the episode appears to show interest in other boys, and whenever she shows Timmy any sort of attention, he sort of suffers a breakdown (Think Stan from South Park with Wendy, except less puking). He wishes to become emo and "not caring" so this wouldn't happen, but this causes other fairy related problems of course and some elaborate ring jumping (speaking metaphorically) must be performed as usual to prevent Timmy from losing his fairies for the millionth time. Once the usual slapstick and suspenseful parts are done with, the episode ends with Timmy back to normal, and Missy admitting that she liked Timmy all along for who he was. Timmy and Missy walk off into the sunset, with Timmy slightly freaking out again as the screen goes black.
Well, first thing on many peoples minds is probably going to be "Where is Tootie? Where is Trixie? Who is this new girl?". For the first question, I think the city of Dimmsdale needs to put out an amber alert for Tootie, she hasn't been seen outside of the live action sideshow for two seasons. The second, I brought up Dionne Quan before, her last credited voice work according to IMDB.com was in 2009. I've heard rumors that Quan has essentially retired from voice acting, but have received no verification. If it's true and she's left the show, it's possible the creators want her iconic Trixie Tang character to go with her, but I'm only speculating, They have referenced Trixie once already in season 9, but she has not appeared on screen at all. A recent interview also had someone bring up the status of Timmy/Trixie, and while Butch Hartman gave a roundabout positive sounding answer regarding them, he didn't say she had left the show then either. Final question is one you'll have to ask Butch Hartman, hopefully one of the yesmen who usually gives him an interview once every six years will bring it to him.
Missy's character can be regarded as a medium between Tootie and Trixie. She's nice, pretty, somewhat popular, and likes Timmy but not too overbearingly. In ways she can easily be regarded as a Mary Sue type character, and I can already see many people passing her off as such. I myself don't like the change, I've always felt this show should've ended with Timmy and Tootie, but now? They've turned Timmy, the average kid, into the school bachelor, and it doesn't even feel genuine to ship Timmy with anyone anymore, he loves his fairies and would probably murder his real family to keep them.
What do you guys think of Missy? Does she improve the show, or is it just another rider on the pale horse alongside Sparky and Poof?
