Space Spectre is a television program that appeared in The Fairly OddParents television special, "Channel Chasers".
Information
This show is a parody of the television show Space Ghost, a superhero show from the 1960s about a hero who fought space villains alongside two kids and a monkey. This show likewise has a monkey sidekick, which Cosmo ends up being, setting up a running gag throughout the special where Cosmo would end up being a monkey whenever he entered a show that had one as a character. This is also the first show where Timmy Turner encounters the Masked Man.
Background
This show is the seventh show visited in "Channel Chasers", after Timmy Turner wished for a Magic TV Remote that allowed him to travel through television as if the programs were real worlds. This is the first show that Timmy Turner encountered the masked man, who would continue to pursue Timmy relentlessly throughout the television shows until his identity is finally revealed.
Upon arriving in this show, Timmy demonstrates his wrist blaster while inside his spaceship, causing a hole to get blasted in the hull and everyone to be sucked into space. Although his character's powers allow him to breathe and fly freely through space (similar to what Space Ghost does), Timmy and his fairies are suddenly caught and frozen in a tractor beam by the masked man, who demands that Timmy surrender the magic remote. Timmy refuses, and manages to reach the remote in time to warp him and his fairies to the next television program.
Connections with Space Ghost
- The Black Domino Masks that Timmy, Cosmo and Wanda wear are similar to what Jan, Jace and Blip wear.
- The wrist blaster that Timmy demonstrated is similar to what Space Ghost uses.
- Interestingly, the show's counterpart also had a character with the same name who is Space Ghost's evil counterpart.
