Lord Beckett, did you know that that the Fairly Oddparents is failing because it had too much humor and Butch never tried to fix the coninuity of FOP because the writers never cared about the continuity. Not anymore, because there is a fanfiction on the Fairly Oddparents fanon wikia that can fix the continuity of FOP. It's called The All New Fairly Oddparents. The All New Fairly Oddparents tackles the problem of the modern FOP as well as eliminating the continuity issues of FOP. To learn more about this fanon, click the below:
Greetings, Lord Beckett.
Unfortunately, it seems that the admin, 120d, has left the wiki due to a discussion between him, TooYube and I, regarding the merging of one-time-appearance characters who are a part of a group (moreso especially Sue Shi from the Food Fight contestants).
There is the potential that perhaps this wasn't his intention and he'll return eventually, but still. Also, I'd appreciate if you looked to the matter yourself and decide how the wiki will respond to one-time-appearance characters.
Well, sorry for taking a while to reply, truth is, I don't visit this wiki as much anymore as I don't care for this cartoon much anymore, in fact, after reading the most recent QnA with an alleged staff member, I've pretty much given up all hope for this cartoon. Pooka seems to be the most active admin here, so I'd say you're in charge (I took this wiki over from another admin who was inactive a few years ago but I am in no way the "creator" or ring leader here.) But please, respect not just the opinions of other admins, but the users as well. Ask questions, and see how people want the wiki to be run.
As for my opinion, this wiki suffers several problems. The layout is a little outdated, and I found out quickly that it is super unfriendly to mobile phones. So perhaps, other similar cartoon wikis should be looked at, and see what they do for their layout. Galleries should be separate pages, but I don't think we need the tabbed format otherwise.
This wiki does need less, not more, so merging one-shot characters and other junk together wouldn't hurt. Just keep in consideration things like how many images (which increase load time). I regret making the "tabbed" format, its only really suitable for SUPER LONG articles like Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda, etc.
If you feel there are any other users to contribute alot or are active and still have devotion to this cartoon, feel free to admin them. But otherwise, I think we should all come to terms with that this wiki is mostly just a glorified screenshot gallery for a cartoon which has fallen from grace quite tragically.
Thank you for your response, Lord Beckett! Being in charge of the wiki means I take over all your responsibilities and tasks, right? Then you'll allow me to do all the changes required to make that official and known. Hopefully I wouldn't need to make this known on the official Wikia community.
Which makes me wonder, what's going to be your role from now on? Are you going to be a retired, inactive admin, perhaps?
Once I'm done with my exams and whatnot, I'll see to it that this wiki is improved in several ways, first of all, improving it on the mobile front as I'm an Android user who messes with his phone almost daily. The tabbed layout will be looked to later, as the hurdle in such an argument remains to be the image galleries.
Until now, TooYube has shown that he is a competent editor who knows how to deal with a Wikia, and as thus he'll promoted to admin in a short while. I'll also improve the admin requests so that they are based off the efforts of the candidates rather than the time they spent and whatnot.
Again, thank you for your response, and thank you for putting me in charge. I will be happy to handle things here from now on.
Basically, its hard to consider anyone to be "in charge" since none of us are actual Wikia admins, just admins of this particular wiki, so we all share the same powers. I don't think I can even remove people as admins if I wanted to.
But its like I said, the biggest priority right now is to be cutting down the amount of excess pages, speculation, and useless cruft that plague this wiki. I admit even I was responsible for some of it because I had no idea how the wiki should be made, but the overall purpose is to just stick to the facts. Too many wikis I visit have this problem where they just invent and assume reasons for things that are not outright stated.
I don't know what happened in that argument 120d had with you guys and quite frankly that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much wall of text for me to bother reading through, and thanks to Wikia's stupid scrunched up windows (where more than half my screen is empty side bars), it makes reading long pages all the more harder to do, which is partly why I think many pages should be cut down to size. The detailed synopsis I wrote of several episodes seem fine though, maybe a few of them could be better written. But regardless, its unfortunate what happened and that argument seems to have ended ugly. Disagreements will happen. I honestly think the badges thing for instance was ultimately bad for this wiki, but many other users argued for them, and I reluctantly kept them. The point is to just listen to the users and consider yourself as an admin merely first among equals, not an emperor with full veto powers.
Just set a priority. Right now, fixing the wiki so that its friendly to mobile posters is the biggest one. Try to find other wikis that have done this already and don't be afraid to ask them, ask on Wikia's main site, or just copy the code if you have little understanding of how Wiki code works. Thats pretty much what I did, I took some bits of code from places like the Star Wars wiki (for the icons, which seem to be broke here now somehow), Phineas and Ferb wiki, Simpsons wiki, Spongebob wiki, and other cartoon wikis.
Adding to this point, I saw the edit to the Vicky wiki, and I think you're right on that the taber template thing for the images should go to, or at least be fixed and SIGNIFICANTLY cut down. It was cute for a while, but I think it greatly increases the load time of pages, and it got out of hand as every single costume or alternative attire a character wore got added.
Depends on whether said admins are bureaucrats or not. If they are, no removal for them. I think that at this point only an actual Wikia staffer can take said bureaucrat's status off.
It's okay, I'm sure you gained a lot of experience knowing how to handle a wiki in the long term. At least you have the idea of a wiki down. State the facts, and let the viewers think however they want.
Regarding that argument, the summary is that 120d thought we were missing the point of his argument and called us as idiots before ragequitting. Whether we were missing the point or not is something that hasn't been made clear by a third party. But 120d was part of the 'do not merge grouped one shot characters' side, so. I really wish this argument ended better, but that's how it played out in the end. As for the badges, I don't think they're doing enough harm to be warranted a kick. That said, if something does enough harm, it'll be kicked. Also hopefully, I should be following your advice about when to use my admin powers.
I'll check out those other wikis you mentioned on mobile, particularly Star Wars and Phineas and Ferb as they cover material I'm (mostly) familiar with.
As for the taber template, when I first loaded Vicky's page on mobile, darn it, so many images loaded at once. On a mobile data connection, that'd kill lots of data at once. For a taber template like Wanda's, that'd be absolutely disastrous for a data cap. Hopefully the taber can end up in the images page of the respective character's image gallery for those who are interested in a certain character's costume, all while putting the taber in a page that is established to suck up data.
Back to your subject, should I consider you an 'in-active' admin or keep you as an 'active' one for the time being? That's another thing I want to work out, who to call 'active' and who to call 'inactive.' DeviantPooper also suggested demoting the inactive admins, what do you think of that? Personally I disagree.
I am free from college. If anything, I'd like if you elaborated further on how to make the site more mobile friendly. To be frank, the mobile version of this wiki is WORSE than the desktop version ON MOBILE. I'm not kidding. It took me ages to scroll down to the "Editor's Featured Images" on Vicky's page on mobile, as the site was slow, meanwhile on the desktop site it was in my face, and scrolling is easier as well (and everything already loaded).
So how do we make it so that the mobile site is actually better on mobile than the desktop site? Because if we don't achieve that, the mobile site is pointless.
