Ted and Jimmy is a television program that appeared in The Fairly OddParents television special, "Channel Chasers".

Information[]

This show is a parody of the classic MGM cartoon Tom and Jerry that has been around since 1940. Ted and Jimmy is a somewhat violent cartoon about a cat and mouse that chase each other around the house, with the mouse using various household objects and parts of the environment to evade and torment the predating cat.

Background[]

This show is the fifteenth show visited in "Channel Chasers", after Timmy Turner wished for a Magic TV Remote that allowed him to travel through television as if the programs were real worlds. Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda, and Future Timmy were all turned into mice, while Vicky became a cat (a reference to Tom Cat, Jerry's antagonist). Timmy and his companions were forced to evade Vicky in this program rather than stop her because of her natural advantage, but much like in the original Tom and Jerry show, they were able to use objects in the house environment to inflict pain on Vicky.

Timmy and his older self eventually managed to outwit Vicky by leading her nearly right into the jaws of an angry dog (a reference to Spike the bulldog). Vicky is chased out of the television program by the dog, but not before she lines the exit around the television with mouse traps, slowing Timmy and his parties' progress.

Trivia[]

  • The show is clearly based on Tom and Jerry, a classic cat and mouse animation cartoon.
    • This is the first Tom and Jerry parody to appear. Another parody of Tom and Jerry called "Sleazy and Cheezy" later appeared as the main focus of the episode "Micecapades".
  • A running gag during this scene was Cosmo and Wanda censoring the violence involving Vicky (mostly due to the imitability of it all).
  • Timmy and Future Timmy's mouse form colors are similar to Tom's color scheme.
  • The dog that chased Vicky (Tom) at the end of this show is a reference to Spike Bulldog from Tom and Jerry.
  • Tara Strong was the voice of Nibbles (coincidentally also a gray mouse) in the film Tom and Jerry: The Magic Ring.
