Bakersfield is a city in Kern County, California and is the county seat.

In real life

Bakersfield is located in the southeastern portion of the Central Valley. California Highway 58 (known as the Barstow-Bakersfield Highway from Interstate 5 to Interstate 15) provides commuters access to Barstow and is the main east-west route for commuters heading to Las Vegas from San Francisco and vice versa. California Highway 99 serves as a parallel route to Interstate 5. Interstate 5 is a highway providing commuters access to the Canadian and Mexican borders and passes through Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, and Sacramento, California's capital.

California Highway 178 allows commuters to travel to Lake Isabella and through Death Valley National Park as an alternate route to Las Vegas. Because Death Valley National Park blocks the location of the proposed highway, California Highway 178 is split into two segments and it is unlikely that they will ever connect, though the route through Death Valley National Park is unofficially defined as a continuation California Highway 178.

Bakersfield is about 100 miles north of Los Angeles, 110 miles south of Fresno and 80 miles south of Visalia.

In The Fairly OddParents

While seemingly being similar to the real world location in looks, there is an added aspect of the location in the "The Fairly OddParents!" universe, where black holes in space take you to Bakersfield, as stated by the city's sign.  When taken there, Mr. Crocker exclaimed that "Einstein was right."

In The Fairly OddParents, the city only appeared in the episode, "When Losers Attack". In its appearance in the show, Bakersfield's look is based on the real city in the United States. Its entrance opens up into a street, where buildings are seen on both sides of the street. The entrance sign actually exists in the real Bakersfield, CA.

Bakersfield CA - sign

the real Bakersfield sign

When Timmy was caught by the L.O.S.E.R.S using Dark Laser's Death Ball, he managed to trick the L.O.S.E.R.S into falling into the black hole by throwing Flipsie into it, making the whole group jump to the black hole after Flipsie. After they were sucked into the black hole, they landed in Bakersfield. Apparently as stated by Mr. Crocker, and the sign to the town, all black holes take you there.
